BUILDING OR FRANQUISM EXHIBITION

From January 23 to February 6, 2020The traveling exhibition Deconstruct or Francoism is presented in Santiago de Compostela as a space for reflection on the symbolism of the dictatorship. The exhibition is presented in five stages, from the PERSISTENCE of the Franco regime to the ABSENCES of memory. The journey reveals the VELADURAS of the retired but recoverable Franco regime, the AMNESIAS that draw an authentic cartography of terror and the EXPROPRIATIONS of the meaning of places and symbols. The exhibition includes photographic reproductions of Francoist spaces and symbols that persist or were forgotten by the citizens of Santiago de Compostela and an interactive cartography that brings to the public space the places of death and burial in Galicia during the civil war.

EXHIBITION "VIVIR DA TERRA. A LOITA DO CAMPESINADO (1925-1975)"



The sample, designed with didactic criteria, is the result of collaboration between the research project team "Political mobilization and social conflict in a context of great changes: rural Galicia during or late Francoism and transition (1960 - 1982)", directed by the Professor Daniel Lanero Táboas, from USC, the Sine Nomine Association, of Teachers of Secondary Education, and the Fundación 10 de Marzo de CCOO de Galicia.

Expository script:

Rural Galicia has been linked to backwardness, immutability, conservatism and caciquismo. Without denying the historical existence of conservative social and political attitudes, the truth is that reality is much more complex.

Since the end of the s. In the 19th century, very deep socio-economic, political and cultural transformations took place that completely changed the face of the rural world. Along with periods of material shortage, productive paralysis, and political and social regression - such as the long postwar period after the 1936-1939 conflict - there were democratizing stages and movements, the construction of civil society and economic modernization. This is the case of agrarianism at the beginning of the last century.

This educational exhibition focuses on the political mobilization and the multiple social conflicts that took place in rural Galicia in the final years of the Franco dictatorship and the transition. He presents his only contribution to the social conquest of democracy to better integrate agriculture in the explanation of the historical change in the second half of the 20th century.

EXHIBITION "A GRANXA AGRÍCOLA EXPERIMENTAL DE GALICIA (1888-1964)"



The exhibition was an initiative promoted by the Coruña Scientific Museums, in collaboration with the Council of A Coruña and the Regional Ministry of Rural Affairs of the Xunta de Galicia.

Expository Script:

Created in 1888 on the outskirts of the city of A Coruña, the Experimental Agricultural Farm was the first center for experimentation and dissemination of new agricultural techniques created in Galicia and Asturias. Its activity continued in Monelos until 1964 and today these tasks are carried out at the Center for Agricultural Research in Mabegondo. Likewise, the Farm was part of the city of A Coruña, its spaces and social life, with such unique initiatives as the “tree festival”.
