María Xesús Baz Vicente (1964) is a doctor of History from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. She earned an outstanding performance award with her doctoral thesis El patrimonio de la alta nobleza en Galicia ante la revolución burguesa, siglos XVII-XX: La Casa de Alba (‘The assets of the high nobility in Galicia in the face of the bourgeois revolution, 17th-20th centuries: The House of Alba,’ 1994), directed by professor Ramón Villares Paz.

Her lines of research are the nobility and the elites, land property and rural society: from the Ancien Régime to the Contemporary Age and Francoism.
