Historical interviews in a village colonised by Franco
Researchers carry out anthropological work in Castro de Rei
Several researchers affiliated with the research agreement signed last year between the University of Santiago de Compostela and the town council of Castro de Rei (Lugo), with financial support from the Provincial Council of Lugo, are conducting interviews with residents of several colonisation villages in the province, including Matodoso in Castro de Rei and Veiga de Pumar in Cospeito.
This work is part of the activities being carried out by the HISTAGRA Group, led by Ana Cabana Iglesia, a member of the Group and professor at the Lugo campus.
The work focuses on recovering the memories of the people involved in the colonisation through interviews: audio and/or video recordings of men and women who experienced the colonisation first-hand. In addition, we are recovering and digitising documentation on colonisation (photographs, letters, official documents, etc.), both private (kept by families) and from different institutions (town halls, Provincial Historical Archive, etc.). The documentation will be properly processed to ensure its organisation and preservation so that it can be consulted by researchers and interested parties.
