El objetivo del Congreso Knowledge networks in rural Europe since 1700 es dar a conocer, difundir y estudiar los avances que en la investigación histórica se están llevando a cabo en el sector agrícola y en el agro. Su finalidad es la investigación y la reflexión crítica sobre el conocimiento del mundo rural desde una perspectiva innovadora: las redes.
Según los sociólogos Van Dijk y Castells, vivimos en una "sociedad en red" dirigida por nuevos medios de comunicación y difusión del conocimiento. Es revelador analizar como los sitios y los portadores de conocimiento rural y agrícola (individuos, grupos, instituciones, medios de comunicación) en Europa estaban conectados entre si y con el mundo no-rural y como influyeron entre si.

Los miembros de HISTAGRA, Lourenzo Fernández Prieto, Miguel Cabo Villaverde, Daniel Lanero Táboas, Alba Díaz-Geada y Beatriz Corbacho González, estarán presentes en el congreso con los siguintes trabajos:
