In the period that begins with the coup of 1936, the war and the dictatorship occupy a fundamental place in the political and social history of contemporary Galicia and especially of rural society. Some of the most notable investigations in this field in recent years have emerged from the HISTAGRA group, around the rearguard repression-violence in the war period, the processes of consolidation and / or resistance of the dictatorial regime and, recently, of the conflict and mobilizations in the Tardofranquismo and the Transition. As well as the study of destruction of the liberal society and economy and the agrarian policies of the autarky. The group has in process several PhD Theses, manuals and scientific articles specifically dedicated to the question of the institutional conformation of the Franco regime and also on the attitudes of consensus / social consent, as well as several competitive research projects and agreements with public institutions. The contribution to the renewal of research in this thematic field makes the group a historiographic reference, both because of the novelty of the perspectives that are approaching, as well as because the group's background includes an extensive documentary collection (oral, written and photographic and original sources) in digital support on these topics.
