Presentation and oral defence for the filling of a tenured lecturer position, for which Stefania Barca is applying as a HISTAGRA-CISPAC researcher candidate.

 

Today, Monday 21 July, the oral presentation and defence for the filling of a tenured lecturer position, for which Stefania Barca is a researcher candidate at HISTAGRA-CISPAC, will take place. This is the first consolidation as Full Professor of a Beatriz Galindo in the USC.

Stefania Barca is an accredited full professor in Contemporary History, and a senior Beatriz Galindo Distinguished Researcher in the Department of History at USC. Originally from Italy, where she was Associate Professor in Modern History (2014) and in Economic History (2013). Between 2009 and 2021 she worked as a senior researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra (Portugal), where she held several research leadership positions and supervised PhD and postdoctoral research. Previously, she was a visiting research fellow at Yale University's Agricultural Studies Program (2005-06), and received sabbatical fellowships at the Universities of Berkeley (2006-08) and Lund (2015-16); most recently, she was the fourth ‘Zennstrom’ Professor in Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University (2021).

 

She is active in feminist, climate justice and degrowth networks, and her work was translated and disseminated in several languages.
