Margarita Barral Martínez (Carballo, 1973) is a European doctor of History from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. She earned an outstanding performance award with her doctoral thesis Eugenio Montero Ríos e a cidade de Santiago (‘Eugenio Montero Ríos and the city of Santiago,’ 2005), directed by professor Ramón Villares Paz. She is currently a teacher-researcher at the Department of Contemporary and American History of the USC under the Isidro Parga Pondal Programme. She received the Galicia Research Award for young researchers in the year 2009.

Her lines of research are political history and local history.
