Eleonora Gea Piccardi holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, with a thesis entitled ‘At the crossroads between theory and praxis. How Kurdish Democratic Confederalism is articulating feminism, democracy, and ecology’, and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Roma Tre University.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela-CISPAC, where she is expanding her research into a critique of the ‘green’ and ‘just’ transition from the perspective of social reproduction in rural areas and feminist peasant struggles. Her research career has unfolded within the context of research projects such as the EU Horizon Project “GREENPATHS. European Knowledge Hub on Just Transition Pathways” at the Centro de Estudos Sociais of the University of Coimbra, an institution where she also collaborates on the project “EcoGraphies of Grief: Assessing Intangible Loss in Rural Portugal”. Since 2023, she has been an active member of the international network “Just Transition and Care”, contributing as a co-author to the policy report by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) entitled “Just Transition and Care Work: An International Inquiry” (Geneva, 2025).
