On this occasion, Dr. Miguel Ángel del Arco Blanco, professor of contemporary history at the University of Granada, will visit us and will give the lecture: "Cruces de Memoria y Olvido: los monumentos a los caídos y la memoria de la guerra civil española (1936-2022)" (Crosses of Memory and Oblivion: the monuments to the fallen and the memory of the Spanish Civil War (1936-2022)), based on his recent work Cruces de memoria y olvido. Los monumentos a los caídos de la guerra civil española (1936-2021) (Crítica, 2022).
Miguel Ángel Del Arco Blanco (Granada, 1979) holds a PhD in History from the University of Granada, and is currently a lecturer in Contemporary History at the same university. His research deals with the history of Spain in the context of inter-war Europe, mainly the civil war, Francoism and fascism. He has also dealt with the memory of dictatorships, focusing on the case of Francoism and paying special attention to socio-economic and cultural repression.
