Presentation of the book: 1936. Un Nuevo relato in A Coruña 

Next Thursday, June 9, at the Casares Quiroga House Museum in A Coruña, we will present the book 1936. A new story, with the participation of the publication's editors Lourenzo Fernández Prieto and Antonio Miguez Macho and the honorary president of the Juan Negrín Foundation, Carmen Negrín. They will be presented by the president of the Ateneo Republicano de Galicia and the organizing institution of the event, Juan Alvajar. 

About the book: 

In this book we want to define the bases to build a new story because the available one, the dominant one, does not convince us: it went from victory to reconciliation, it found the victims but it is still not able to look at the executioners or to place the superiority of democracy versus dictatorship. How to face the period of war and dictatorship in the present public consciousness is a major challenge that calls into question the historical and political identity of the current Kingdom of Spain. Despite the passage of time, forty plus forty years, a civil war story built on the victory and defeat of its protagonists continues to dominate. About their experience, interests, positions and political explanations. A story handled ultimately by the winners: remodeled and accommodated to successive presents.
