Donation of Pitusa Arias' documentary collection on the student movement, feminism and nationalism

On Thursday 10 April 2025, Pitusa Arias Rei's documentation will be handed over to the University Historical Archive of the USC to commemorate the third anniversary . Pitusa Arias had decided to donate her personal collection to the DOAME fund in order to promote the study of the student movement, feminism and Galician nationalism in the 20th century.

This documentary collection brings together materials from the student movement, from various organisations in the field of nationalism in the 1970s and 1980s and from cultural and artistic entities. Through them it is possible to study the development of student organisations such as ERGA and political organisations, especially the UPG, the ANPG and the BNG. In addition, the documentation reflects the work of Pitusa in the struggle for women's rights and female participation within these organisations.

This documentation will now be integrated into the DOAME collection of the Historical Archive of the University of Santiago de Compostela. DOAME (Documentation of the Anti-Francoist Opposition and Student Movement of the University of Santiago) is an initiative of the HISTAGRA Group and the AHUS to collect, catalogue and conserve the materials generated by the Galician student body and make them available for research.

The collection is open and encourages further donations of documentation generated by the student movement by contacting the HISTAGRA group by emailing histagra@usc.gal.
