Barbanza Ecosocial Labo announces a call for seed projects for the promotion of 3 sustainable and innovative initiatives

The Barbanza Ecosocial Lab announces a call for seed projects for the promotion of 3 sustainable and innovative initiatives. € 15,000 is available for financing three (3) proposals. Proposals can be submitted until May 31.
What is this call?
A call for sustainable initiatives that want to develop in the rural areas of the Barbanza peninsula to offer them technical and financial support.
What is the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory?
It is a project that aims to value the logics of land management historically carried out by local communities -the first phase of the Laboratory- and to promote initiatives in the region, called seed projects, which are governed by the same principles of sustainability - the second phase of the Laboratory, which begins with the publication of this call.
The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory is coordinated by the RIA Foundation, which has the support of the HISTAGRA group of the University of Santiago de Compostela in the research and knowledge transfer part. The project was possible thanks to the co-financing of the Banco Santander Foundation and the collaboration of the Juana de Vega Chair.
Where should the projects take place?
In the Barbanza bioregion, made up of the municipalities of Noia, Porto do Son, Ribeira, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Boiro, Rianxo, Dodro and Lousame.

Who can participate?

What is the economic contribution to the projects?
It is recommended that the proposals are below € 5,000 (VAT included), establishing a maximum limit of € 7,500 (VAT included).
What is a seed project?
We call the candidatures of this call for seed projects, because of the capacity they must have to sprout in the territory and exemplify good practices that can be replicated in other locations.
What should seed projects be about?
We are looking for projects focused on sustainable production, environmental regeneration, land planning, social and cultural action or a combination thereof, that have a positive impact on local communities and have the capacity for amplification and replication. Projects must have sustainability as the first requirement and for that it is recommended to take into account the principles for new sustainable initiatives contained in the publication When we were sustainable. Learning the keys to the future at Barbanza:

1. Community management by the inhabitants themselves
2. Care of the territory and productive use
3. Establishment of short agri-food chains
4. Diversification and pluriactivity
5. Use of clean energy of local origin
6. Low ecological footprint and circular economy
7. Generation of social capital and spaces for relationships
Those projects that take the greatest number of these principles into consideration will be positively valued. When we were sustainable. Learning the keys to the future in Barbanza, is the result of the first phase of research at the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory, and can be downloaded free of charge on the website www.barbanzaecosocial.org
