Summary: The coup d'état of July 1936 split Spain in two, configuring a board of terror, misery and death that would end the Republic and support the Franco dictatorship. In the rebellious territory, Franco's soldiers were often not convinced followers, if not mere pawns forced to fight for the future of a Spain in which the only element of cohesion would be fear.

It is revealed how the rebellious army was formed by forced levies and demystifies the story, repeated over and over again, that half of Spain rose up against the Republic for ideological or political reasons. Franco's Soldiers is the story of how the dictator placed the country before a terrible dilemma: become executioners or die.
